In particular, the POPF provides financial support to people who are in a crisis situation. Our program helps them pursue much needed medical treatment, durable medical equipment and support. - Need For Awareness
Needs Much more research is needed into these painful diseases. For instance, we need so desperately to raise awareness for Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (RSD aka CRPS). The condition of RSD affects both men and woman of all ages and can affect your entire body. Most suffers are affected in the extremities. However, RSD can also attack your eyes, internal organs, and can develop full body. RSD effects females three to one over men. If a patient is treated in the first 3-9 months of contracting RSD, there is a greater chance of it going into remission. However, after 6-9 months, the remission rate is extremely low. Therefore, education and research are very sorely needed. Most doctors do not study RSD in medical school; however, if they knew the signs and symptoms they could save many lives from suffering with this chronic pain nerve disorder.

- Who We Help
The Power of Pain Foundation (POPF) provides community based support services that address the immediate need of Neuropathy pain patients. Accordingly, beneficiaries include patients who are economically and socially affected by these invisible diseases. Whether you have Neuropathy pain or are a caregiver, family member or friend of someone diagnosed, we'll help you face the challenges and life changes of chronic nerve pain, head on.
The POPF coordinates events to raise money for the purpose of education enrichment, leadership training programs and support projects for chronic pain patients suffering with Neurological conditions such as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), Post Cancer and Diabetic Neuropathy. Chronic pain affects the entire family and it needs to be treated that way right from the start, everyone needs to be involved. With proven research and emerging information, physicians are not yet up to date with appropriate treatment practices. Patients still are not getting a timely diagnosis allowing for proper treatment. There is still a tremendous amount of misinformation passed around in the healthcare and public circles. There is no personality type associated with RSD, anyone can get it at any age. This is not a psychiatric illness and physicians are now realizing that depression is normal for people in extreme pain.

- Additional Info
Additional Info There are millions of people with Neuropathy, and it is not talked about much. We are trying to change that with your help! At the POPF, we know that education and research can transform a person's future. We see it happen all the time. However, there is a catch. People who live with chronic pain usually lack the funds needed for proper medical treatment, medications and basic living expenses. They do not have many places to go for support or understanding.
